Pelan Pelan means take it easy.

When people come to Bali they are looking to get away from their busy lives and enjoy some time to relax and explore. We love showing our guests the unique Balinese culture found on the island, each day we eat traditional food, catch some waves, and stretch our bodies with yoga classes. The experience you receive here is more relaxed than anything you are used to back home. The kindness of the Balinese will make you feel at home; you may never want to leave!

Let us walk you through a typical day here at Pelan Pelan Retreat:

Early morning:

Wake to have a home cooked breakfast of choice, fresh juice and coffee and then we head out to the beach to go surfing.

Canggu is surrounded by the best surf locations in Bali and our surf school employs only the best local teachers. There are multiple surf spots with waves ideal for both beginners and advanced surfers. Depending on your level of experience you will be paired with one teacher for maximum two guests that will help you with your individual needs.

Noon:

Arrive back at Pelan Pelan for a shower and join the other guests in the lounge for a delicious, traditional Balinese lunch. Your mouth and tastebuds will dance and sing when you try the food here. Each day is different and each meal is full of color and flavor.

Today we had Gado Gado, an Indonesian salad of lightly boiled or steamed veggies, served with tofu and tempeh, potato, and egg (optional) covered in peanut sauce. Gado-gado means “mix-mix” and is a mix of whatever veggies you’d like to use. Typically, the salad has string beans, cabbage, corn, bean sprouts, and potatoes. You can find this dish all over Indonesia and is commonly found at hawker carts (street food).

Afternoon:

Take some time to relax by the pool, read a book, hop on a scooter to explore the surrounding area, or get a massage in the comfort of your air conditioned room. Massages are included in your package and are much enjoyed after time spent surfing.

Pelan Pelan believes that the body, mind and spirit work in harmony. The health and well being of all the parts make the whole happy. Traditional Balinese massages release tension, free the muscle tissues of toxins and improve the body’s circulation of blood. Balinese massage techniques include acupressure, skin rolling and flicking, firm and gentle stroking, percussion, and the application of essential oils. Our therapists will release stress and body aches, while elevating your spirit!

5pm:

Time for yoga class! Classes are small and intimate with personalized attention to help you further and deepen your yoga practice. Yoga is the perfect compliment to surfing and will help you improve your daily life. Whether you are a beginner just learning yoga or have been practicing for years, these classes will energize you and connect the mind, body, and spirit.

Evening:

Explore the local cafes in Canggu. We have many choices here from our favourite traditional warungs and fancier dining options with food from your home country. Also vegetarians and vegans will be in heaven with fresh vegetables, tofu, tempeh and gorgeous salads found around town. For those who like a bit of seafood you will find the freshest fish and more here in Bali. There is something for every single appetite!
