Bali, the Island of the Gods, attracts millions of visitors each year. To make your arrival stress-free, it’s essential to understand the visa and immigration procedures before you land. This guide provides a step-by-step overview of everything you need to know to ensure a hassle-free entry into Bali in 2025.

1. Pre-Arrival Preparations

There are four key steps all tourists visiting Bali in 2025 must complete before stepping on board their flights. These are:

  • Tourist e-Visa on Arrival (e-VOA)
  • Online Customs Declaration Form
  • Bali Tourism Tax Levy
  • Downloading and completing the Satusehat Travel Health App

Travelers are also required to pay the Bali Tourism Tax Levy and download and complete the Satusehat Travel Health App before arrival. However, based on recent experiences, these steps are not checked at the airport, leading many to believe they are not strictly necessary before arrival.

1. How to apply for an e-Visa on arrival (e-VOA)

The first and most important step is to arrange your e-Visa on Arrival (e-VOA). While you can still apply for the 30-day Visa on Arrival (VOA) at Bali Airport, it is much quicker and easier to do it online in advance.

Applying for the e-VOA also enables travelers to use the autogate scanners at immigration, significantly reducing processing time on arrival and departure.

The cost for the e-VOA is IDR 1,000,000 (approximately €60 or $65) for a 30-day stay, which can be extended for another 30 days with the help of an agent.

Below is a step-by-step guide from the official website on how to complete your e-VOA application. After completing these steps, you will receive an email confirmation.

To be eligible for either visa, you must have:

✅ A passport valid for at least six months from your arrival date
✅ A return or onward flight ticket

3. Extending Your Stay

Visa on Arrival (VOA) Extension

  • You can extend your VOA for an additional 30 days by applying at a local immigration office before your first 30 days expire.

Alternative Long-Term Visas

  • Single-Entry Tourist Visa (C211A): Valid for an initial 60-day stay, extendable twice for 60 days each. Requires an application before arrival.

Important Considerations

Accuracy in Documentation

  • Ensure all personal details are correct when applying for visas. Errors (e.g., incorrect passport numbers) can delay processing or lead to denied entry.

Compliance with Local Laws

  • Indonesia enforces strict penalties for visa overstays and immigration violations. Overstaying can result in hefty fines or legal consequences.
